The England starting XI Southgate is ‘veering towards’ for Slovakia as Neville calls for three changes

England boss Gareth Southgate is likely to make just one change to his starting XI when the Three Lions face Slovakia in the last 16 of Euro 2024.

Southgate’s side has looked unbalanced throughout a Euro 2024 campaign which saw England top Group C despite three average performances.

There have been plenty of suggestions about how should line-up in their next match, including playing Bukayo Saka at left-back and moving Phil Foden into the centre to drop Jude Bellingham deeper.

However, Southgate is giving strong consideration to sticking with his first-choice attack after Foden returned to training on Friday.

Southgate is not expected to do anything drastic against Slovakia on Sunday and is veering towards making only one change, with Kobbie Mainoo se…

Keane hits out at England ‘arrogance’ as ITV pundit claims ‘proper men’ would win Euro 2024

Roy Keane has slammed the arrogance of England as the ITV pundit hit out at Gary Neville and Ian Wright over their claim about the weight of the jersey .

secured England s spot in their second consecutive Euros final against Spain on Sunday.

That s not on this group of players

But ahead of the game on Wednesday Keane took issue with the focus on the Three Lions history at major tournaments.

He said: You talk about England not having won anything for 30, 40 years, that s not on this group of players. Focus on winning the game of football and history will take care of itself.

When you talk about the weight of the jersey, I think there s a bit of arrogance that comes with that.

The consequences of a mistake, that is part of top level sport, yo…

Liverpool ‘renegotiate’ with Newcastle over Gordon deal as Magpies issue swift response

Liverpool have re-opened negotiations with Premier League rivals Newcastle United over the signing of Anthony Gordon, according to reports.

Gordon, 23, joined from Everton in January 2023 and did not get off to the best of starts at St James Park.

However, after a difficult first six months, the England international began to shine under Eddie Howe in 2023/24 and finished the campaign with an impressive 11 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League.

He earned a place in Gareth Southgate s England squad for Euro 2024 but only made one appearance off the bench in Germany.

During the tournament, there was lots of speculation surrounding the future of Gordon as Newcastle contemplated a big-money sale to comply with the Premier League s Profit and Sustainabi…

Thierry Henry restates credentials to lead France into ‘everything’ Olympic gold medal match

Thierry Henry thought he had felt it all as a footballer until this Paris Olympics came along and blew his mind.

A World Cup, a European Championship, a string of club titles, more Golden Boots than even King Midas had in his locker.

Then the Five Ringed Circus came to town, HIS town, and Henry was swamped by an emotion different to anything he had experienced before.

“Did I ever think I would be part of an Olympic team? Never,” said the father-of-four, pausing from preparing for tomorrow’s men’s final against Spain at a sold-out Parc des Princes.

“I will tell you why it’s different to me, and I explained it to the team, and some of my friends. I never ever was on the field or the bench with my family in the stand looking at me performing.

Man Utd: Romano reveals ‘breakthrough’ as Sancho, Chelsea ‘truth’ emerges amid ‘approach’ claim

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered his thoughts on reports linking Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho with Premier League rivals Chelsea.

s long-term future at Man Utd has been in doubt over the past year as he had a major fallout with head coach Erik ten Hag at the start of last season.

The England international refused to apologise to Ten Hag after accusing the Dutchman of making him a scapegoat. This conflict came in the aftermath of the winger being omitted from s squad to face Arsenal.

The 24-year-0ld was banished from the first team and sent back to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January. He impressed for the Bundesliga side last term as they surpassed expectations to reach the Champions League final.

Sancho appears to have mended his r…

Sensational late Man Utd exit ‘NOT happening’ as forward ‘wants to stay’ and fight

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Antony moving from Manchester United to Real Betis is NOT happening despite reported interest in him and a team-mate from Real Betis.

Antony has underwhelmed during his time at United. The £86million attacker has contributed to just 16 goals in his 83 games as a Red Devil.

Last season saw the winger find the net just three times in all competitions. It has been suggested that United will listen to offers for fringe players especially after a big spend this summer and with Antony playing just a single minute so far, it seems he is in that category.

It has been that both he and Christian Eriksen targets for La Liga side Real Betis, but on loan rather than for permanent moves. It was suggested that a bold approach was to come for t…

Man Utd told when Ten Hag’s position ‘would be untenable’ after Slot ‘destroyed’ his tactics

Erik ten Hag s situation at Man Utd would become untenable if Southampton managed to dominate them in their next fixture, according to Louis Saha.

The Red Devils have started the season poorly once again with an opening weekend victory over Fulham followed by back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Liverpool.

It was which really had some fans and former players questioning whether Ten Hag is up to the job after narrowly avoiding the sack over the summer.

A brace from Luis Diaz and a second-half strike from Mohamed Salah gave Arne Slot s side all three points at Old Trafford with Man Utd second best for most of the fixture.

And former Man Utd striker Saha insists that another similar performance against Southampton after the international break would …

John Salako exclusive on why Man Utd have lost fear factor post-Ferguson – ‘no one is intimidated’

John Salako insists the days of Crystal Palace being intimidated by Manchester United ended with the Eagles’ Premier League double last season.

A fixture known for Eric Cantona’s kung-fu kick and United’s years of dominance, was turned on its head with Palace winning 1-0 at Old Trafford before hammering the Red Devils 4-0 at Selhurst Park.

“ have absolutely been a thorn in my side,” says the former England star. “I lost finals and semi-finals to them. The one time I was man of the match Cantona went into the crowd and it didn’t get a mention!

“So to see Palace beat them 4-0, I absolutely loved ever second of that day. To be able to inflict some pain back on them.”

United are in South London on Saturday night, looking to build on a week …
