Bellingham hails ´big player´ Mbappe in Stuttgart triumph

Jude Bellingham lauded yet another landmark moment in the career of Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman marked his Champions League debut for Real Madrid with a goal.

Mbappe, who has five goals in his first seven games for his new club, opened the scoring in Los Blancos 3-1 win over Stuttgart on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old s effort saw him net his 49th Champions League goal, with only Robert Lewandowski (61) scoring more in the competition since Mbappe s debut.

He also became the second Frenchman to score on his debut for Madrid in the competition, joining Christian Karembeu who netted against Bayer Leverkusen in 1998.

Bellingham explained how quickly Mbappe has settled into life in the Spanish capital, saying: He s going to be a huge player for us, this s…

Anthony Gordon says choosing Scotland over England was ‘never a thought’

Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon insists he only ever had eyes for England and that a switch of international allegiance to Scotland was “never a thought”.

The 23-year-old has earned his first senior call-up for the upcoming Wembley friendly double-header against Brazil and Belgium, potentially breaking into Gareth Southgate’s squad just in time for Euro 2024.

Gordon helped England to glory at the 2023 European Under-21 Championship, where he was also named as player of the tournament.

Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Nimes: Di Maria shines as Pochettino´s side return to winning ways

Paris Saint-Germain returned to winning ways in Ligue 1 with a 3-0 victory over bottom side Nimes at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

The champions suffered a shock 3-2 loss to lowly Lorient on Sunday their first defeat under Mauricio Pochettino but responded with a comfortable victory on home soil.

Star man Angel Di Maria profited from a terrible Lamine Fomba error to open the scoring and then crossed for Pablo Sarabia to add a second before half-time.

Kylian Mbappe scored a stunning third goal for PSG, who were without the suspended Neymar, but they remain third in the table as leaders Lille and second-place Lyon also triumphed.

Merci !

Rangers crowned champions as Gerrard denies Celtic 10 in a row

Rangers have been crowned Scottish Premiership champions for the first time in a decade after Celtic slipped up at Dundee United on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard s side had moved to the brink of glory on Saturday, a 3-0 home win over St Mirren leaving them needing just one more point to get over the line – provided Celtic triumphed at Tannadice less than 24 hours later.

However, with their Old Firm rivals only able to draw 0-0 on the road, Rangers were able to celebrate a first top-flight title in Scotland since the 2010-11 season, in the process ending Celtic s run of success in the competition.

Securing the league also gives Gerrard the first trophy of his managerial career in his third season in charge at Ibrox. They had finished second in th…

Juninho wants Benzema to return to Lyon

Lyon sporting director Juninho wants Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema to finish his career at the Ligue 1 club.

Benzema, 31, came through the Lyon academy and starred in Ligue 1 before joining Madrid for €35million in July 2009.

The Frenchman has scored 233 goals for Madrid, helping the Spanish giants win two LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues among numerous other trophies.

Juninho, who played alongside Benzema at Lyon, wants the forward to return to the club.

My desire is to propose to Karim that he finishes his career at Lyon, the Brazilian told OLTV.

He is from here, he feels from here. Why not make an economic effort between both parties to make it happen?

Mahrez not surprised by Leicester´s title challenge

Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez says he is not surprised his old club Leicester City are competing for the Premier League title again.

Brendan Rodgers Foxes have emerged as the closest competition for Liverpool, who have a 10-point advantage at the summit.

Mahrez was one of Leicester s stars and scooped the Professional Footballers Association Player of the Year award when they shocked the sporting world by winning the 2015-16 Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri.

The Algeria winger highlighted the form of former team-mate Jamie Vardy five goals clear in the race for the Golden Boot as being key for Leicester s success this term.

I am not surprised by them; they are a good team. They have good players and Jamie Vardy is scoring a lot of goals, M…

Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid: Another Benzema hat-trick puts the LaLiga leaders in command

Karim Benzema scored a second successive Champions League hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Chelsea 3-1 in their quarter-final first leg.

Benzema s treble – just four weeks after doing the same against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 – helped Carlo Ancelotti s side take command of the tie at Stamford Bridge.

The France international put the 13-time European champions in control with a brace of first-half headers, before capitalising on Edouard Mendy s mistake to complete his hat-trick 46 seconds after the restart.

Kai Havertz grabbed what proved to be a consolation for the reigning champions, who have work to do in the second leg next week after suffering their first ever defeat against Madrid.

Liverpool target Thiago can play in Premier League, says Man City boss Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has no doubt Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara can play in the Premier League amid links to champions Liverpool.

Thiago is out of contract at Bundesliga champions Bayern next year and the 29-year-old Spaniard is reportedly ready to leave Bavaria after opting against a renewal.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be keen on bringing Thiago to Anfield, where Liverpool won their first league title since 1990 this season, and Guardiola – who worked with the veteran at Barcelona and Bayern – hailed the midfielder.

No doubt about it, a player who plays for Barcelona and Bayern Munich can play in the Premier League, Guardiola said when asked about Thiago ahead of Saturday s FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal.

Of course he can…

Prediction: Blackburn vs West Brom

Best Odds: 4/5

Bookmaker:

Two sides who have their sights set on punching a play-off ticket this season, Blackburn will welcome West From to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon.

Blackburn

Starting with the hosts, suffering what was an infamous Championship collapse last season over the final couple of months, Blackburn were eventually left heartbroken after only missing out on a play-off spot through their goal difference. However, with Jon Dahl Tomasson making it clear that his squad will be trying to mount another top-six charge this time around, the Rovers will know the importance of finding some much-needed stability on home soil. Failing to win any of their last five Championship appearances at Ewood Park, Blackburn should at least take some positives away fr…

Ange Postecoglou has hailed his outstanding Tottenham side after their dominant 3-0 victory over 10-man Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

They also created nine big chances, the joint-most ever recorded in a Premier League match, as they extended their unbeaten run over United to four games in the competition.
